My name is Eric, and I am a man in recovery.
I have been with BHN for nearly three years and currently serve as a counselor with the Connections Program. Outside of BHN, I work part-time as a firefighter—a role I am deeply passionate about and one I once gave up to my addiction years ago.
Over the past decade, I have overcome many struggles and challenges. At BHN, I am a counselor who shares lived experience through strength, hope, and resilience. Outside of BHN, I am a father, husband, friend, brother, firefighter, and a caring individual who truly believes that recovery and redemption are possible. For me, being told I couldn’t, wouldn’t, shouldn’t, or would never succeed became the fuel that drove me forward. I don’t take “no” for an answer, and I will overcome any challenge that stands in my way.
Much like the individuals we serve, I have been where they are. I have hit rock bottom—homeless, jobless, incarcerated, and involved with the judicial system. But I also found my path to recovery and rebuilt my life into the person I represent today.
Just for today, I am a better person than I was yesterday. Recovery works—if you let it, and if you’re willing to put in the work.
