We partner with local colleges and universities to offer a wide range of internship opportunities for students pursuing careers in human services. Whether you’re completing your bachelor’s degree or in the early stages of your master’s program, you can build your skills in areas like addiction services, community outreach, crisis and emergency services, outpatient care, youth and family programs, forensic services, and more

We work with your schedule by offering both traditional and non-traditional hours, with placements in a variety of settings—from agency-based programs to working directly with individuals and families in the community. At BHN, you’ll be part of a competitive placement process designed to match you with the right experience based on your goals and interests—with the opportunity for permanent employment after successful completion.

Opportunities include observation hours, experiential learning, residency placements, bachelor’s- and master’s-level internships, post-graduate internships, and specialized pathways toward licensure. Throughout your internship, you’ll grow your knowledge, strengthen your skills, and gain real-world experience grounded in current best practices in behavioral health—so you’re prepared for a rewarding career from day one.

Multicultural Psychology Internship Program (MPIP)

This APA and APPIC accredited internship is full-time (40 hours) for one year (52 weeks) for a total of 2,000 hours. Applicants need to have earned a master’s degree and have completed at least three years of doctoral coursework in a Psy.D. or Ph.D. program in Clinical or Counseling Psychology to be eligible and must be bi-lingual (English-Spanish).


The multicultural doctoral internship in professional psychology is offered at the School Street Counseling Institute (SSCI) under BHN's Community Behavioral Health Center (CBHC Center for Well Being), a community mental health clinic in Springfield, MA. SSCI provides outpatient community mental health services to Latino/a children, families with a wide variety of mental health and substance use issues. Staff includes professional psychologists, clinicians, school counselors and medication providers who offer linguistically and culturally competent services in English and Spanish.


The Multicultural Psychology Internship Program also offers a 6-month rotation in Medical Integration.
